Cabbage Jambalaya

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 1/4-inch slices

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 3 stalks celery, chopped

  • 1 clove garlic, chopped

  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped

  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes

  • 14 ½ fluid ounces water

  • 1 cup uncooked rice

  • 1 pinch garlic salt, or to taste

 

Directions
Over medium-high heat, combine ground beef, smoked sausage, onion, celery, and garlic in a sizable stock pot. Cook and stir the meat for about 5 minutes, or until it is uniformly browned. Rice, water, and tomatoes are all stirred in. Use garlic salt to season.

Bring to a boil and then turn down the heat. For 35 to 40 minutes, simmer the rice with the cover on, stirring only once.
